1. Watch the video on photo ideas trending on Tiktok. Please do not try the glass breaking hack at  school, but feel free to try some of the other hacks, especially the ones with paper.

2. Review all of the assignments that students need to work on this week from the post published Oct. 16. The 3 assignments due this week include: The Interview, School Supplies and Pet Poster.

3. Students can have time to go out and shoot photos. Many should be trying to get into other classes to get their Yearbook Photos done or their interviews. Students should return no later than 10:30 since time needs to be taken to work on uploading and editing. All cameras should be signed out in the book and checked off when returned.

4. If time and only if you are done all of your other work, go onto Instagram and see if you can find a company or fashion blogger you like and take a look at their photos, be able to discuss their vibe or style. We will all spend some time doing this assignment next class.

Welcome to Photojournalism/Yearbook 10

Photojournalism/Yearbook: In this class you will learn much about how to see from a different perspective, how to improve your ability to take and edit photos in Photoshop as well as how to tell the story of our school year in photos. There is much to know in the field of Photography/Journalism and I am a learner as much as a teacher. In fact, we can learn much from each other. This class will allow a fair bit of freedom, but with this freedom comes responsibility.

This year will be a bit different from years past. Students are encouraged to use their phones for taking photos due to Covid. Only a few cameras will be available for student use, and cameras will not be able to be signed out to take home. Techniques on how to use your phones will be taught in class. Students should download the Flickr App on their phones, but should also carry their phone charge cords with them as well. Students will be expected to disinfect all school camera equipment used.

We will be using the TEAMS App for assign tracking, the Flickr App for posting and organizing photos and students will be encouraged to find a photo phone app that will work for them. Assignments, links, videos etc will also be posted on this blog regularly which can be accessed from home.

Requirements for success in this course:
  • a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and push beyond the level you are at
  • your own cell phone and charger cables
  • to use your class time effectively and respect the freedom you have in this class
  • be a good model for your peers and be able to work with each other
  • generate creative ideas
